Coach Hydes

Coach Ray Hydes, head coach

HEAD COACH RAY HYDES begins his 14th year at Midlothian High School and his 25th year coaching.

Coach Hydes graduated from Nederland High School in 1981, where he won All-District honors in both baseball and football. He attended Angelina Junior College where he was named All-Conference catcher for two years. Coach Hydes then transferred to Dallas Baptist University where he played in two College World Series tournaments and was named on the World Series All-Tournament Team. Other honors Coach Hydes has received include All-American catcher, MVP of the Regional Tournament in 1985, and two years All-Conference at Dallas Baptist University.

Coach Hydes began coaching at DeSoto High School and was also head coach at Joshua High School in 1990. Coach Hydes and his wife, Tanya, have been married for 21 years and have a 15-year-old daughter, Raegan.



Ryan RodgersRyan Rodgers, Varsity assistant

COACH RYAN RODGERS is in his 8th year of coaching and his 8th year at Midlothian. It is his sixth as the Varsity Assistant. Coach Rodgers graduated from Midlothian High School in 1999 and attended Cedar Valley College where he played baseball for one year. He then transferred to Howard Payne University in 2000 where he played baseball for three years and graduated with a BBA in Business Management.

 





Sam RileySam Riley, Junior Varsity coach

COACH SAM RILEY is in his 4th year at Midlothian. He has coached at Kennedale, Maypearl and Howe. After graduating from Kennedale High School, Coach Riley was a three-time All-America football player and two-time All America baseball player at Nazarene University. Coach Riley played arena football for one year and also played professionally in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.



 




Justin Blackwell

Justin Blackwell, Freshmen coach

COACH JUSTIN BLACKWELL is in his 5th year coaching at MHS and his 5th year as Freshman Assistant. He has been involved in coaching football and track as well as baseball. Coach Blackwell graduated from Midlothian High School in 1997, where he earned All-District Honors as a baseball player. He was a member of MHS teams that competed in the playoffs in 1995-97, finishing as Area Finalist in 1997. He graduated from UT Arlington in 2006 where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in History and a minor in Education.

Coach Blackwell’s wife is Heather and they have a dog named Lucy. His interests include coaching, playing basketball, playing the guitar, and spending time with family and friends.
