MARCH 4-6
The Freshman baseball team played in the Red Oak tournament this weekend and finished with a 2 and 1 record.

MHS 0, Waxahachie 7: The Panthers fell short in game 1 to the Waxahachie Indians. The Panthers received great pitching from Dylan Higdon and Garrett Ayala, only allowing 4 earned runs in 5 innings. Tanner Dickerson played an outstanding game, leading the Panthers offensivley and defensivley. Kyle Lumpkin also had an outstanding defensive performance.

MHS 11, Corsicana 4: In Game 2, Brett Breaud pitched 4 innings and only allowed 4 runs. He did an outstanding job of keeping the Panthers in the game. Shane Lunday pitched the last inning and shut the Tigers out, dashing their hopes of a comeback. The Panthers were paced offensivley with a three-hit game from Bryce Fausett and a two-hit game by David Busse. Josh Boldt played an oustanding game on defense, including a diving catch in leftfield.

MHS 14, Joshua 1: Midlo again took care of business in game 3 against the Joshua Owls. Chad Anders and Tanner Dickerson pitched an excellent ballgame, allowing a combined 0 earned runs. Josh Tobolka, Sean Rodarte, and Kasey Blair all had oustanding performances offensivley. Defensive standouts included Dylan Higdon and Zac Graham.

The Freshman baseball team now has an overall record of 4-2 and is playing in the Waxahachie tournament this weekend!


FEB. 26
MHS 12, Red Oak 1: They defeated the Ennis Lions in game two by a score of 12-1. The Panthers recieved solid pitching from Garrett Ayala and Dylan Higdon. Ayala pitched three innings and only allowed one run. Higdon came in and closed the door with one solid inning as the Panther completed the run rule. The Panthers were lead offensivley by Sean Rodarte and Shane Lunday, who both hit balls off the wall in a deep Ennis ballpark. The Panthers were led defensivley by Tower Wilson and Kyle Lumpkin.

MHS 3, Forney 12: The Panthers entered the championship game with hopes of winning the tournament but ran into a good Forney team. Midlo came up a little short and lost the game 12-3. Bryce Fausett pitched well and kept the Panthers in the game for the first 4 innings. He competed at a high level against a good offensive team. The Panthers also received good performances on the mound by Chad Anders and Shane Lunday. The Panthers were paced offensivley by Tanner Dickerson and Dustin Martin. The defensive standouts were Sean Rodarte, Garrett Ayalya and Tanner Dickerson.

The Freshman Panthers finished in 2nd place at the Ennis tournament and are 2-1 on the season. We will face Waxahachie in the Red Oak tournament on Thursday (3/4) at 3pm.


FEB. 25
MHS 5, Red Oak 2: The Freshman defeated the Red Oak Hawks by a score of 5-2. The Panthers recieved solid pitching performances from Brett Breaud and Chad Anders. Breaud pitched very well for the first four innings, allowing only 2 runs.  Anders came in and shut the Hawks out for the three final innings.  The Panthers were paced offensivley by outstanding performances from Kyle Lumpkin and Bryce Fausett.  The Freshman were lead defensivley by Dustin Martin.  It was an all-around great effort. Next game is tomorrow at 7pm against Ennis. — Justin Blackwell
